The Service Projects Committee engages in a number of projects throughout the year to support the community, and those in need both here and abroad.  We are very mindful of the acute need to improve literacy:
  • One child in four grows up not knowing how to read.
  • 70% of prison inmates cannot read above the fourth grade level.
  • 2/3 of children who cannot read proficiently by the end of fourth grade will end up in jail or on welfare.
  • 43% of adults lacking basic literacy skills live in poverty
